Newbery Blitz

The Newbery Blitz has pumped up the volume in the NatWest T20 Blast and will continue to bring the noise to the quarter-finals in the hands of no fewer than 10 Newbery Pros.

Sam Northeast has enjoyed a run-laden tournament so far, notching up 627 runs for South Group winners Kent Spitfires, the second highest in the tournament. He will look to extend his form into the knockout stages against Lancashire Lightning in the Saturday afternoon sun at Canterbury.

Down here on the coast, Sussex Sharks finished right behind Kent in the South Group and are first up in the quarter-finals on Wednesday evening. Newbery Pros Will Beer and Craig Cachopa will look to drive the team past Maurice Chambers’ Northamptonshire Steelbacks and into the semi-finals.

Greg Smith and his Essex Eagles team take on last year’s champions, Birmingham Bears in their quarter-final on Thursday.

Meanwhile Freddie Coleman and Alexei Kervezee will be with Worcestershire Rapids as they look to get the better of Yasir Arafat, Chris Wood and Mason Crane’s Hampshire side on Friday night.

We'll be keeping an eye on all our pros so be sure to check out our Twitter and Instagram for updates throughout this week and the rest of the tournament.
