Newbery Brand Story

Introduction to Newbery

The Newbery Brand Story

Newbery Cricket began in the early 1900s in East Sussex, England, with Len Newbery, a master craftsman with a passion for precision and quality. His dedication was passed down to his son, John Newbery, who founded John Newbery Ltd in 1981, establishing a legacy that revolutionized the world of cricket bats. Known for his groundbreaking designs, such as the steel spring handle, John Newbery earned the nickname "the Picasso of cricket bats."

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Newbery Cricket became the brand trusted by the game’s elite. Even behind sponsors' logos, our bats were often the first choice for top players. Legendary lines like the Master and Mjolnir Series were widely recognized across the UK and the world, establishing Newbery as a leader in craftsmanship and design.

In 2022, Newbery took a significant step forward by relocating to a state-of-the-art facility in Lancing, West Sussex. With a showroom, state-of-the-art cricket center, and 3000sqm warehouse, this move positioned Newbery for a fresh re-launch into the UK market. Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation, Newbery remains a major force in the global cricket market.
