Newbery Pros: Steve Magoffin, Sussex CCC July 09 2014
Steve Magoffin is a talisman for Sussex CCC. He is the spearhead of the bowling attack and is a very useful lower order batter. This is his third season at Hove and has recorded over 50 wickets in both of his previous seasons with Sussex. They will be hoping for the same in the 2014 season. He averages 20 with the bat in first-class cricket.
Steve made his first class debut in the 2004/05 season in his homeland of Australia. He can swing the ball and has been responsible for many big hauls in his career, including a career-best 8 for 47 against South Australia in 2005-06.
Magoffin is a regular in county cricket and he has had spells at Leicestershire, Worcestershire and Surrey before signing with Sussex ahead of the 2012 season. He was an immediate success, taking 7 for 34 on his debut for the county to deliver Sussex's victory over Lancashire.
Steve currently uses our Tour range. He used TT when he first joined the Newbery but fancied a change for the 2014 season. He said, "I enjoyed the unique style of the TT but the Tour is a bat I’ve always liked the look of. These are the best bats I have ever used."
