Northamptonshire County Cricket Club's Maurice Chambers is a Jamaican-born fast bowler who was given British citizenship in 2007, having previously been allowed to feature for the county as a non-overseas player, as well as for England Under-19s, due to special dispensation being granted by the ECB.
He caught the eye with his pace and an impressive 2010, in which he claimed 32 Division One wickets at under-26, led to him being selected for the England Performance Programme that winter. He left Essex in 2013, signing a two-year contract at Northamptonshire as they look to bring more power to their pace attack.
Maurice said of his relationship with Newbery: "I've been sponsored by Newbery since 2010 and the service is excellent. I've never been more happy with my cricket equipment and the handmade cricket bats are second to none. My favourite bat is the Krakatoa and I have my bats sized and shaped to suit my individual specifications. It is this sort of personal touch that sets Newbery apart from other bat makers."
