Lewis Hatchett is a left-arm seamer who was rated highly enough by the Sussex management to be given a three-year when he was 20. He learned his cricket at St James's Montefiore, a club in Ditchling, before moving to East Grinstead to further his development. He made his Sussex Second XI debut in 2009 before a first-team debut the following season.
In his second Championship match, against Leicestershire, he took 5 for 47, and followed it up with four in the match at Durham.
One of the most local members in the squad, having been born just down the coast in Shoreham-by-Sea, Lewis has spent time as a member of staff at Newbery over the winter working on the marketing side and in our Hove cricket shop.
Lewis has been using Newbery cricket kit since he was a junior and has chosen the Kudos as his bat for this season.
He said, "I've always used Newbery bats throughout my career. I've been using the Tomahawk for the last couple of years but I'm excited to use the Kudos this season."
