Newbery staff blog – Michael Gould

Michael Gould is sales and marketing manager for Newbery. He was born in Sussex before moving to Windsor and went to Windsor Boys school.

Michael is the son of Ian Gould, the ex-Sussex CCC captain, Middlesex and England and is a keen and talented cricketer himself!

His career has included stints at Windsor CC and he played for MCC young cricketers as a top order batsman before moving back to Sussex in 2007 where he played for Sussex CCC 2nds and trialled at Glamorgan and Gloucester. He's presently playing for Worthing CC in West Sussex.

Michael started working at Newbery 2011 and took his new role in sales and marketing in 2012. He says "It's a dream job working at Newbery and being around a cricket environment. We're passionate about our beautifully made bats, we have lots of knowledge so we can pass that on and help you make the right decision when choosing your kit.

All of us who work here have played the game for years so when I'm talking to people I can help them choose the right bat and kit that suits their game.

It's a really exciting time to be at Newbery because of my new role, the new sub brand of the Newbery Collection, and we're designing new bats and kit all the time. My role encompasses consultancy on the shop floor, helping with the digital marketing of the company and general sales. I love it!"
